Our discussions around this year’s theme, Extasis: Escaping Reality in Pursuit of Truth, hinged on finding artwork to express the kind of ecstatic escape we mean: the kind of stepping out of oneself, out of the ordinary, the mortal, and into the immortal, the extraordinary, the divine. This is an experience we have both in fantasy and in faith, in worship as well as writing or gaming or storytelling. We wanted a visual representation of this kind of experience for our artwork.
And we’re excited about the piece that Hailey Gifford created for us!
We love the nod to portal fantasies, the play of darkness and light, and the boldness of the central character who is stepping into a new world of experience.
We’re looking forward to a great event with panels, speakers, games, and vendors that help us escape into new worlds and step outside of ourselves into new experiences. We hope you’ll join us on February 8, 2025 at the Brightwater Center in Woodinville.
